What is Webster Bank's Cash Back option and how does it work?

I was at my local Walgreens the other day and I noticed that upon checkout, the little machine I swiped my ATM/debit card in asked for cash back. Not knowing what it was I clicked on the 'No' option. Can anyone explain to me what that Cash Back option is?

You can get cash back at the point of sale if you use your ATM to make a purchase. All banks do this, not just Webster Bank. The amount of cash you get back is added to the total amount of your purchase.
